FAQ

ARE AVASI WIGS & HAIR PIECES MADE OUT OF HUMAN HAIR?
We only offer 100% human hair with absolutely NO SYNTHETIC FILLER STRANDS USED. All our wigs start off as virgin haired units in the tone dark brown or darkest brown and are then lightened and coloured to suit the desired style. All our virgin haired wigs on offer or custom ordered have the knots of the wig lightened for a realistic scalp effect unless requested otherwise.

WHAT TYPES OF WIGS & HAIR PIECES DOES AVASI OFFER?
We currently offer Full Lace Wigs & Lace Front Wigs but can take on most wig types as special requests. We also offer toppers & halo extensions. E-mail us at info@avasihair.com if you require a wig type other than the wig types listed above as a custom order and we will let you know if we can create this for you.

WHAT DOES 'DENSITY' REFER TO?
The density of a wig or topper refers to the thickness created by how much hair is added to the hair piece itself. Our lowest density is 130% and is a finer density where as our 180% and higher densities are our thicker units with 50%+ hair ventilated or sewn into the wig.

WHAT DENSITY IS BEST FOR ME?
We offer 3 main densities. These are:

130% density

This density is for a finer/normal thickness highly recommended for bobs and suitable for a very natural thickness that gets sparser towards the ends for longer lengths. 130% density units lay the flattest on the scalp due to the low density, but have sparser ends for longer lengths over 16 inches. Want thickness in your 130% full lace wig but don't want bulk? We have a solution! We highly recommend customising your 130% density wig by adding 200 grams of sewn in flat wefts to the nape of the wig for thickness whilst still keeping the crown and upper mids of the wig around the face flat and laid. Add this to your custom order query and we will quote you ASAP.

150% density

This density is a natural/medium thickness and is perfect for everyday wear with a natural sparseness at the ends. This is our most popular density for first time wig wearers as it is a perfect medium between the main densities that we offer.

180% density

This density is for a luscious thickness and is perfect for those who love thick hair! 180% is more fuller on the crown, however in terms of longevity, it will last you the longest with proper wear and care as wigs do shed over time, no matter the type.

Other densities

We do offer higher densities from 200% and over. Add your desired density to your custom order query and we will quote you ASAP.

Adding flat wefts to your wig

Adding 200 grams worth of flat wefts to your wig is a perfect way to add thickness from roots to ends without adding any heaviness to the crown and upper mids of your full lace wig. We take 2 flat weft extensions at 100 grams each and colour match them to suit your customised wig colour, then we sew them at the nape of the wig away from the hair line of the nape so that there is fullness added to the lower mids and ends, and NO extra heaviness added to the crown.

WILL MY WIG/HAIR PIECE SHED?
It is natural over time for wigs & hair pieces to shed, just like hair extensions do. With brushing, washing, the use of heat tools, and adhesives, it is only normal for your wig to slowly shed. Full lace wigs tend to shed quicker than lace front wigs as the majority of lace front wigs are made out of sewn wefts that are then sewn onto the wig which stabilises the hair strands for longer. Full lace wigs have each individual strand ventilated into the lace, and though this is reinforced with a tight root knot and knot sealer, full lace wigs do require more delicateness when maintaining them.

ARE AVASI WIGS GLUELESS?
All Avasi wigs are built in with a removable elastic band, a back up hooked elastic band at the nape, and either clips or combs to secure into the hair. You can secure your Avasi wig without an adhesive to your head with only the removable elastic band and combs/clips. This is the best way to wear your Avasi Wig as this does not damage your edges and natural baby hairs around your hair line which can be prematurely pulled out by adhesives. As lace is not elastic, you may prefer to secure down the side burn areas of your wig for a flush skin like finish. This can be done by using a wig glue or wig tape.

You can ALSO achieve this without an adhesive by using a strong hold hairspray or Got2B Glued hair gel by applying the product onto the skin, drying it with a hair dryer for 30 second on each side, then applying the product again, placing the sides of the wig down, drying each section with a blow dryer for another 30 seconds whilst holding the wig down using your finger tips, then holding down each side using a head scarf or your fingers for 8-10 minutes. When you are ready to remove your wig, remove the product by gently washing the area with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser, and the lace will peel off. Please Note: Gel is more intense than hair spray and will leave a residue if it is not washed off thoroughly.

CAN I WASH/BRUSH/USE HEAT/SWIM IN MY AVASI HAIR PIECE?
Yes! Yes! Yes! & Yes! Here are some recommendations on how to successfully undertake the above in order to avoid damage:

When washing your Avasi hair piece, make sure to use colour safe, sulphate-free, parabean-free, and silicone-free products to keep the hair and colour at optimum health & shine. Hair is a lot more delicate and a lot less dense when wet, so you may see some shedding when washing or brushing, so gently massage the products through the hair piece and give it a light brush with a tangle teaser before letting it air dry. If blow drying, blow dry your hair piece until it is 100% dry before running a brush through it. You may see some light shedding when blow drying after a fresh wash due to loose hair strands compressing and expanding. This is normal, and is nothing to be concerned about.

When brushing your hair piece, make sure you use a soft bristle brush, tangle teaser, or wide tooth comb. Hair cutting combs & tail combs for vigorous brushing are a big no-no and may cause forced shedding due to the smallness of the brush and narrowness of the bristles.

When using heating tools, make sure that you keep your heating tools on the lowest heat to avoid heat damage and always use a generous amount of heat protector spray. Heat damage can compromise hair health and burn the hair colour out of the hair, leaving it looking brassy.

Swimming in salt or fresh water can sometimes dry your hair out, so a great tip is to saturate your hair piece in a leave in mask from roots to ends then style it in a low braid or plat to protect the hair from any dehydration whilst you swim. Swimming in chlorine pools is a lot more complicated, and will strip and compromise the colour of your Avasi hair piece, ESPECIALLY BLONDES. Chlorine pools can also leave your hair feeling overly dry and may cause irreversible damage due to its' strength. We strongly advise to keep your hair protected when swimming in a chlorine pool or to not wear your hair piece at all.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FULL LACE WIG & A LACE FRONT WIG?
Full Lace Wigs

Full lace wigs are made by ventilating the hair strand by strand into very fine lace throughout the entire wig to mimic hair coming out of scalp and laying naturally. They are the most expensive option as you can style and wear the hair exactly as you would your own, whether it be down, in a ponytail, braids or a high bun. As the hair is ventilated strand by strand, full lace wigs lay more realistic on the crown, and require gentle handling when brushing to avoid forceful shedding. Normal shedding occurs in full lace wigs slightly more often than in lace front wigs due to the ventilation, where as lace front wigs are predominantly made out of wefts which are bonded and double sewn into the wig.

Lace Front Wigs
Lace front wigs have the top section of the wigs' hair ventilated into the lace to create a realistic hairline and crown. The back of the wig and a portion of the sides down to the nape are made out of hair sewn into wefts which are then sewn into tracks. The area where the wefts are sewn into is made out of more elastic material, making lace front wigs easier to apply onto the scalp. Lace front wigs can appear thicker than a full lace wig due to the way the wefts fall, however can also appear more bulky at the crown and do not lay as flat and natural as a full lace wig would. Lace front wigs can also only be worn in lower limited styles as the nape of the wig is wefted, unlike full lace wigs where the lace is ventilated all the way through.

DO AVASI WIGS CONTAIN BLEACHED KNOTS & BABY HAIRS AROUND THE HAIR LINE?
Yes! All our wigs come with bleached knots for a realistic scalp effect, as well as fine hand plucked baby hairs for further realism when wearing your wig.
